Thinking of changing the colour of your uPVC window frames?

9th April 2023

Looking for a quick fix to give the exterior of your home a new contemporary look?
Read on for some of the most frequently asked questions when thinking about spray painting the exterior fixtures on your house.

Is it a good idea to paint uPVC windows and doors?

Changing the colour of your uPVC window frames, doors and facias is an effective way to update the look of your home and give it a contemporary feel. However the actual process is not as simple as it seems and is best left to professionals, who have  had training and extensive experience in spray painting to ensure a long lasting, smooth finish.

Why choose spray colour change?

There are several ways to recolour uPVC, but by far the most cost effective and straight forward way to achieve the best results is to use a professional spray service. The paint or coating material used for uPVC spraying is specially designed to adhere to uPVC and provide a durable, long-lasting finish that can withstand exposure to the elements.

There are various colours and finishes available, including gloss, satin, and matte, to either match your existing uPVC or create a new look altogether. You may want to improve the curb appeal of your home or restore the look of your old frames but the results depend entirely on the skills of the person doing the job.

Is it a sustainable option.

Yes, yes yes!!  Restoration over replacement is a great way to reduce landfill waste by keeping the existing frames as well as reducing the cost of refreshing the exterior look of your home. The professional quality paints and sprays we use have low VOC emissions, which help reduce  air pollution and produce lower levels of carcinogens. Our team will keep overspray to a bear minimum , avoiding damage to plants or local wildlife that could be effected.

What colour can you choose?

The sky is your limit – you can pick any colour you choose.

Many people pick a colour from a paint chart called a RAL Colour Chart which is the professional colour matching system that defines colours for plastic and coating. There are over 200 colours to choose from, but current trends mean that the most popular choices are greys, sage green and black. Otherwise we can colour match to any existing shade or mix a bespoke colour just for you.

My house is listed – can I still change the colour?

If your house is listed or in a conservation area with an Article 4 Direction you are likely to require consent to change the colour as it could affect the listed building’s special interest or character

Can the work go ahead in any weather?

Unfortunately, the work requires a dry day ( or significant shelter) to ensure the window frames and doors we are working on remain dry, as the process won’t work effectively when it gets damp. If the forecast is poor, we can reschedule the job to come on a dry day.

How much does professional uPVC spray painting cost?

Hopefully, it doesn’t cost as much as you are expecting and is a far more cost effective solution than replacing tired looking frames or doors. Our website has a simple on-line quote form with a request for some basic details about the job and space to upload a picture. We will get back to you with a no-obligation quote for you to consider. Expect to pay from around £80 – £120 for a standard single pane window or around £120 for a front door as a starting point.
