Summary
Costing almost £40m and taking two and a half years to complete, the building’s 6,684m2 footprint is comprised of state-of-the-art facilities spread over six floors on the university’s campus.
After contractor Galliford Try completed the build earlier this year, it brought in Plastic Surgeon to restore damage at locations across the site including various offices, lecture theatres, laboratories and exhibition spaces.
Results
A large-scale project like the Nexus development inevitably experiences an array of scratches, dents and scuffs, caused during the fit-out phase of the build.
Four of Plastic Surgeon’s specialist finishers were sent in to utilise their specialist skillset and repair hundreds of items of damage across the site. A diverse array of surfaces required restoration including aluminium window frames, curtain walling, internal doors and worktops, although the window frames were the most prominent features needing fixing.
As a result of our repairs almost six tonnes worth of damaged items were saved from heading to landfill, a significant saving that supports Galliford Try’s commitment to environmentally friendly building.
